Castanyada Party - 31th october 2008 at night- Castanyada is a popular date in Catalonia that celebrates All Saints’ Day. Like Halloween, it comes from an old funeral ritual. The party consists of eating chestnuts, panellets, sweet potatoes and candied fruit. Also, a typical beverage of this holiday is called muscatel. The holiday is best represented by the figure of a castanyera: an old woman, dressed in poor winter clothes and wearing a handkerchief on her head, in front of a torrador of chestnuts for sale in the street.
