The Delta del Llobregat nature reserve The River Llobregat, when it reaches the sea, forms a delta of 97 km2. It is the second in extension in Catalonia. Despite its proximity to Barcelona, the Delta, within its limits, still conserves one of the three most important wetlands of Catalonia and is considered of international importance by the European Union. Man’s intervention over the centuries has changed the landscape that was originally marshes into pine forest and cultivated land. The marshes that remain are concentrated in the areas near the sea where there are still some saltwater lakes (La Ricarda and el Remolar are the two largest). From Barcelona, access to the Delta can be made from the dual carriageway to Castelldefels (C-31). By car or public transport (bus line L-95 Barcelona-Castelldefels), The Natural Reserve Remolar - Filipinas is the most visited.
